"Believers, Disbelievers and Unbelievers"

The language of the Scripture quotes has been modernised for easier understanding.

Matthew 8

5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came to Him a [Roman] centurion, beseeching Him, 6 and saying, "Lord, my servant lies at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented." 7 And Jesus says to him, "I will come and heal him."

8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, "I am not worthy that You should come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. 9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, ‘Go’, and he goes; and to another, ‘Come’, and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this’, and he does it."

10 When Jesus heard it, He marvelled, and said to them that followed, "Verily I say to you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

11 And I say to you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the children of the kingdom [the church] shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

13 And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; and as you have believed, so be it done to you." And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Matthew 11

28 "Come to Me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke [of guidance] upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest to your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light."

Matthew 12

22 Then was brought to Him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and He healed Him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spoke and saw. 23 And all the people were amazed, and said, "Is not this the son of David?" 24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, "This fellow does not cast out devils, but [except] by Beelzebub the prince of the devils."

25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: 26 and if Satan cast out Satan, He is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? 27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children [My disciples] cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges."

28 "But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come to you. 29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil [steal] his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. 30 He that is not with Me is against Me; and he that gathers not with Me scatters abroad."

31 "Wherefore [for this reason] I say to you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven to men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven to men. 32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whoever speaks against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."

33 "Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. 34 O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things."

36 "But I say to you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned."

38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, "Master, we would see a sign from You." 39 But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah: 40 for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth [His grave]."

41 "The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, behold, a greater than Jonah is here."

42 "The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here."

43 "When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, "I will return into my house from where I came out"; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goes he, and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first."

"Even so shall it be also to this wicked generation."

46 While He yet talked to the people, behold, His mother and His brothers and sisters stood without, desiring to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers and sisters stand without, desiring to speak with You." 48 But He answered and said to him that told Him, "Who is my mother? And who are My brothers and sisters?"

49 And He stretched forth His hand toward His disciples, and said, "Behold My mother and My brothers and sisters! 50 For whoever shall do the will of My Father which is in heaven, the same is My brother, and sister, and mother.

Mark 3

20 And the multitude comes together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. 21 And when His friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on Him: for they said, "He is beside himself [stirring up a lot of trouble]."

22 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, "He has Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casts He out devils." 23 And He called them to Him, and said to them in parables, "How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but has an end."

27 "No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house."

28 "Verily [truly] I say to you, All sins shall be forgiven to the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost has never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: 30 because they said, ‘He has an unclean spirit’."

31 There came then His brothers and sisters and His mother, and, standing without, sent to Him, calling Him. 32 And the multitude sat about Him, and they said to Him, "Behold, your mother and your brothers and sisters without seek for You." 33 And He answered them, saying, "Who is My mother, or My brothers and sisters?"

34 And He looked round about on them which sat about Him, and said, "Behold My mother and My brothers and sisters! 35 For whoever shall do the will of God, the same is My brother, and My sister, and mother."

Luke 7

1 Now when He had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, He entered into Capernaum. 2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick, and ready to die. 3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent to Him the elders of the Jews, beseeching Him that He would come and heal his servant.

4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought Him instantly, saying, "That he was worthy for whom He should do this: 5 for he loves our nation [church], and he has built us a synagogue."

6 Then Jesus went with them. And when He was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, "Lord, trouble not Yourself: for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof: 7 wherefore [for this reason] neither thought I myself worthy to come to You: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. 8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say to one, ‘Go’, and he goes; and to another, ‘Come’, and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this’, and he does it."

9 When Jesus heard these things, He marvelled at him, and turned Him about, and said to the people that followed Him, "I say to you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel." 10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

11 And it came to pass the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and much people. 12 Now when He came near to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. 13 And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her, and said to her, "Weep not."

14 And He came and touched the bier [the stretcher]: and they that bare him stood still. And He said, "Young man, I say to you, Arise." 15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And He delivered him to his mother. 16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, "That a great prophet is risen up among us"; and, "That God has visited His people." 17 And this rumour of Him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about.
